Lindsay and Andrew are such a playful  couple with each other.  They love photography and love the process of making fun photos!  We had a big adventure on their engagement session in NYC.  I can not stress the importance of engagement sessions and  feeling comfortable with your photographer!  The engagement session is your opportunity to learn about each other and become friends.  Lindsay put together a great team of vendors for this wedding too.  Everything starts with Sumer, of Simply Perfect Weddings.  Sumer did an amazing job pulling off the big moments during the day and all the little behind the scenes details.  Some quick advice to brides, get a planner!  Its so difficult to enjoy your wedding while trying to coordinate it!  Why not enjoy your investment?  Here are a few my favorite photos from the day.  Thank you for choosing me…

The Piper was cool and lead all the guests across the street for a giant group formal.  It was the biggest group shot I have taken to date.

Want a dancefloor like this at your wedding?  Book Dj Bill Bara and just let him do his thing!

  • Lindsay - Joey, I’m obsessed with all of them – they are soo gorgeous!!! You’re the best, thanks so much!! :)

  • Katie - These are incredible! Your use of light and the way you captured her emotion is a perfect combination. Exquisite!

  • admin - Thank you Ladies :)

  • erin mcginn - Joey these are fantastic. LOVE the pre-bridal and esp. the image in front of the cathedral! Just Gorg!!!

A great perk to this job is traveling and seeing into people’s lives; it is so much fun learning their stories and seeing the things they love.  Mel & Phil met in their PHD program and are both English majors.  How cute is this session with the books and their pets?  It is so funny, those animals wanted nothing more than to RUN!   I love this playful series and really enjoyed my time with them.  Thank you so much for choosing me!

  • Natasha Thompson - the world would be a better place if everyone has a bit of this couple’s unseriousness :)

  • Mel - Joey, these photos are fantastic! We had so much fun that day, and I’m so happy that there are so many photos of us laughing together! We will definitely be framing the remake of the This Years Model cover: LOVE THAT. Thank you so much! And thanks for your sweet comment, Natasha — “unseriousness” could easily be our motto…

  • Caryn - This might be my favorite session you’ve done! Tons of fun :)

Nate and Cathryn are such an adorable and playful couple.  I loved watching Cathryn experience her day, she was all smiles.  How about the dress!  The feather back was so much fun to photograph.  Thank you for having me and Happy Tuesday everyone!

  • Elizabeth Craig - Just lovely Joey. LOVE that you took the chair outside. :)

  • Katie - AMAZING gown! Love that you captured it so perfectly! The use of white here is also stunning! Gorgeous as usual :)

  • Cathryn - Joey!!! They look amazing! I love that even though this is just a small number of pictures for the blog, you managed to capture such perfect moments through the day and put them together perfectly – the small details, Brandon with the DJ equipment, our last dance to “You and I.” It’s perfect!

As I do this job more and more, I realize I am responsible for capturing history; it is really fascinating as I strive to make every wedding unique.  When I met Lizzy last year, she mentioned the ceremony would be in the backyard of the house where she had lived all of her life.  What she didn’t tell me was the history of her family and the Allegheny Country Club where the  reception would be held; four women in her family, dating back to 1911 (100 years),  have been married at the club.  Finding this out the day of the wedding gave me chills!  When all the images were set out, I saw the creative and beautiful bridal portraits that we could make; I knew immediately I had to make one of Lizzy to continue this special history.  That is why I love this “opening shot” so much; we are making history!  Make sure to check the “exit shot;” it is a recreation of her grandparent’s 1951 exit.

50 Years ago, Lizzy’s grandparents took this exit, and so did Jeff & Lizzy!

  • katie - LOVE every single one of these! Each is more beautiful than the last. Truly a gorgeous day, and it’s captured perfectly!

  • Photography Pittsburgh - I can’t say anything than REALLY GREAT photography. It brings viewers to where such a happy event happened.

  • admin - Thanks for the visit Jim!!!

Smith Brothers Agency in Pittsburgh has the coolest space across the street from PNC PARK!  Lizzy and Jeff decided to host a dinner party the night before their wedding there.  Beautiful weather prevailed even though the Pirates lost to San Deigo 10-2:(  … Oh, well, that part doesn’t really matter much.  It is all about the cutest couple I ever saw celebrating with friends and family!  Lizzy and Jeff are so in love; it was a thrill to watch them interact.  The night ended perfectly with Jeff singing for Lizzy!  Sooooo cute!  Check back soon for their beautiful backyard wedding.

  • Katie - Fantastic colors here! Love all the vibrant colors, and they are so cute together. Great job again :)

  • Elizabeth Craig - Wow this is an awesome space! Particularly love the night shot and I’m really diggin’ those white shoes. 😉 Nice work, as usual, Joey.

  • Aunt Arbie - Joey, this is your favorite Aunt checking in. ???
I get such pleasure viewing your pictures. This wedding was just very special. You seemed to catch the bride’s expressions at just the perfect instant. The mingling of family past weddings was more than precious and sure to be treasured. The Caddy convertible reminds me of my 1966, same color. Love you. Aunt Arbie (And I know Aunt Boots, etc. is your favorite Aunt as well.)

  • admin - Your the best Aunt Ever! Much love back at you Aunt Arbie! Oh, BTW, I certainly remember the white 66 my grandma drove… Very fond memories from my childhood. :)
