Riti met Lucia on the Staten Island Ferry in New York City. He noticed her every morning as they rode the ferry daily around the same time, but waited months before approaching her. One day, he decided to make contact and sat next to her and began a casual conversation. As the ride ended, he asked her if he could talk to her again tomorrow. How cute is that? Lucia told me that it was weird, she knew she was going to marry him after their first conversation! Brooklyn Heights has to be one adorable city neighborhood I have ever seen and I cannot thank Lucia and Riti enough for being amazing hosts and providing me with a fabulous experience! Joey, the newlyweds spent their wedding night at our bed & breakfast in Columbiana, Ohio, and I literally walked them into the home, just getting back from my annual trip to NYC! Saturday, April 16th had absolutely insane weather! High winds (to ruin your hairdo), driving rains ( to melt your make-up plus drench your shoes), all with gloomy skies to let you know winter is still alive and well in Pittsburgh. Jason and Rachel have to be one of the sweetest and cutest couples I have ever photographed. More on their wedding to come, but I must share a little secret with all of you: I was talking to my mother the day before the wedding, and I was a bit discouraged about the weather. You see, every wedding I photograph has a little bit of me in the work. So, I am not there to just shoot a wedding, but there to make something unique for my bride and groom. Anyway, my mother said, “I will ask God to stop the rain and give you a small break to take your photos tomorrow.” I must be honest, I thought to myself, “That’s nice mom,” but I didn’t really believe it. It was precisely 7 minutes to our location for photos between the ceremony and reception that the clouds broke and the glorious sunlight tore through our valley; a rainbow then appeared. I don’t know if you believe in miracles, but that’s pretty hard to discredit! Love these images; is Rachel in LOVE or what????

It’s that time of year! Time for wedding season to begin and love, love, love to fill the air. I get contacted many times for the same dates and most clients book with me with-in 11-14 months before their wedding date. Just a heads up, because I hate dis-appointing brides when I can not shoot their wedding. I dicovered this out-take from Justin & Jessie in 2009 while printing their wedding album. Enjoy the warmth…
Im so excited to share this beautiful, vintage inspired, engagement session styled by Zoe, herself! Here are Zoe’s thoughts, ” I wanted our engagement pictures to have an earthy feel to them while maintaining a soft and understated, yet elegant feel. For the first portion of the photos, we wanted to create an inviting outdoor space that didn’t compete with its natural surroundings, which we just happened to drive down to for an elegant picnic.”
The old sheet music was another fun, but understated element with each song specifically picked out for their romantic titles. I happened to already own the dishes we used, as I love buying fun patterns of china and mix and matching them and the goblets were old milk glass finds that actually served as vases from our Engagement Party!
“The setting was made up of a mixture of personal possessions, antique finds and outdoor elements. The 1950’s turquoise Chevy belongs to my dad, and I have always loved it’s distinctively retro styling.”
“In our second session, we wanted very natural photos with clothing that showcased Paul’s classic style and my affinity for feminine dresses. The flowers chosen were compromised of lots of quirky greenery and other fun filler flowers along with safari sunset to compliment the warm natural look of the setting, while having a nice contrast against the soft palette of my dresses.”
“We are so happy with how our pictures came together and feel so lucky to capture our personalities at this wonderful time in our lives. We have gone from baseball caps to suit and ties, sorority letters to cocktail dresses. Though our tastes have changed, our character has grown, we are still those head over heels in love college kids!”

Of course they’re all stunning, but my favorite shot is the one from the second shoot, where Paul and Zoe are kissing. The way she’s holding the flowers (momentarily forgotten) and lightly touching his thigh (as if to steady herself) as all her attention is swept away by his face-holding kiss–so romantic!
