Los Angeles

Happy 2011!  Since this is the first official post of a new year and new wedding season upon us.  Recently I enjoyed some wonderful assignments in California and have some exciting news to share in February.  A lot of my friends ask me to show photos of the visit.  Here are some of my random favorites taken around LA.  Why does it always seem like Halloween in LA?  I love that…..

I have seen Mels in so many movies that I couldnt resist stopping for a vintage milk-shake which was amazing!!!  Then to walk outside and see Jay Leno on the sidewalk shooting the tonight show.

The streets of LA are ripe with moments to be captured by a street photographer.  This yorkie wasn’t bigger than your shoe and that girl looking at me instead of the person trying to take her photo is one of my favorite.  I have no clue why I like it so much, he was trying so hard to get her to look at his camera, and didn’t stop starting at mine?  The drummer couldn’t have been a minute over 18 and jamming out.  I don’t think he ever saw me, but the way that light was hitting on the building across the street made this shot irresistible.  I also love how is clothes match the walk of fame.

My cousin to took me to LA in 1991 and this mural is all I really remember.  I love this shot of the kid looking at Shirley Temple and how the mom could care less : )  Ha Ha, I couldn’t resist on the legs shot on the walk of fame, don’t worry, she saw the shot and loved it!

I LOVED seeing all the vintage cars still on the road.  I bet this is the original paint too, nothing rusts or deteriorate out there, the weather is perfect!

MY FAVORITE HOUSE!  I seriously want to do something like this once I finally buy a home.  I’ll probably get some cool european pre-fab home for the southside slopes.  Maybe I can order it out of dwell, LOL!  The missions are worth a visit, this one was over two hundred years old.  Lots of warm texture and lush vegetation around everything.

Some  formation of tree’s and stones felt ancient. Its so different that the East coast.  How long did it take the water to make this pools in the stone?

Lastly, it all ends at the sea.  The sea is a source of magical inspiration.  In the evening come the golden light, the pounding of the surf, the smell of sea spray is a beautiful cocktail full of inspiration for photographing landscape.  I love the trees in California so much!!!

On my last day, the wind was really strong and kept blowing the sea spray high into the air.  Then the golden light would hit every drop in the mist,  forming a glistening curtain of gold,  moving in slow motion.  I was listening to this when capturing this moment.  California was awesome, the people are very nice and healthy.  People don’t eat tons of junk food here.  Most restaurants advertise organic and people wake up early to exercise before work.  In the mornings the beach is packed with people walking and surfing, not for enjoyment but for exercise.  My clients out there are in great shape and you see will our shoot very soon : )
